Sandra Nansambu Kalungi walked away with a prize worth UGX 60 million after emerging winner of the Pearl of Africa Star Search. For her final performance she was also named Uganda's Tourism Ambassador. The 18-year-old singer displayed her powerful vocal range singing Whitney Houston's 'Greatest Love of All'. Her winning and final performance was choreographed by one of Uganda's leading choreographers Valentino R. Kabenge who involved people with disability leaving the jury in awe.
It was the response to the judge Cindy Sanyu's question 'how do you feel? that touched people's hearts the most. Overwhelmed with emotions, Sandra referred to her own disability and dedicated her performance to all differently abled people that might feel unworthy. She rallied them to look at her as inspiration as they pursue everything they desire.
"Thank you Valentino for being a good teacher. And making Pearl of Africa Star Search performance a dream come true," she took to Twitter to thank Valentino after her emerging as the winner.
